To ensure the impressions of Orpheus linger longer, after coffee we’ll visit the church of St. Peter in Villefranche, beautifully decorated by Cocteau himself, before heading to Menton.
Our walk through Menton begins in the Carnolès Gardens, where our guide will lead us through their favorite parts of the city, unveiling hidden gardens and reading poems inspired by the town.
Stops along the way include the wedding hall painted by Cocteau, the small Cocteau museum in the Bastion, the Val Rahmeh Botanical Garden, the Old Castle Cemetery, and an olive grove. Along the route, we’ll encounter stories and legacies of Le Corbusier, Aubrey Beardsley, Anna Kromi, Homer, Churchill, and of course, Cocteau.
We’ll also take a glimpse into Italy, where beneath the red cliffs of Balzi Rossi, it’s a true pleasure to enjoy a luxurious dinner of crudo, ceviche, and fresh fish.
